(66) Al-Waahid Beautiful Names of our Rabb From 100 Names Of Allah
Al-Waahid
Meaning - The One and Only.
Allah Al-Waahid mentions the words of Prophet Yusuf (PBUH) in the following ayah, in which he mentions this beautiful attribute of Allah (SWT).
“O [my] two companions of prison, are diverse lords better or Allah, The One, The All Prevailing?
Whatever (idols) you worship instead of Him are mere names which you and your forefathers have made up —a practice Allah has never authorized. Legislation belongs to Allah. He has commanded that you worship none but Him. That is the upright faith, but most people do not know."
(Holy Qur'an 12:39-40)
In a few lucid words, Prophet Yusuf (PBUH) outlines the main features of the true faith based on the Oneness of Allah Al-Waahid - The One and Only.
Yusuf (PBUH) shakes the whole structure of polytheism and the very concept of associating partners with Allah Al-Waahid - The One and Only.
Allahu Akbar! The noteworthy point here is - Prophet Yusuf (PBUH) was imparting
the lessons of Tawheed (oneness of Allah Al-Waahid) to his companions inside the prison, when he (PBUH) was unjustly imprisoned for many years, even there he (PBUH) was imparting the knowledge about Allah - The One and Only - Al-Waahid!
“Which is better: [to believe] in diverse lords, or to believe in Allah, The One Who is All Prevailing?”
Notice the beautiful style of preaching - The question makes a direct and strong impact on human nature (Fitrah)
which recognizes only one God. We all are born on our natural Fitrah to worship One God only, to explain it simply - a person who is secluded wholly from the very beginning and kept in a forest with no interaction with the outside world or influence of family members, with only basic supplies supplied to him, you will find him recognizing One Supreme Power, One Almighty only and this is an example of pure human nature (Fitrah).
It
should never happen that people who recognize God as One and Only Almighty, accept someone else as having power over them, effectively making them worthy of submission
beside One God, by setting rivals to Allah Al-Waahid which can be seen in many forms - in submitting to humans, to objects, to superstitions, even submitting to man-made ideologies or even blind following of scholars who command what is right and what is wrong as per their own personal understanding citing pragmatic approach — based on getting with the flow of the current century, even if that contradicts to Islamic monotheistic teachings.
We need to understand that the greatest misery humankind witnesses are to
acknowledge the multiplicity of gods to each of whom a section of humanity submits. These earthly gods are either been given such power and authority by ignorant human beings who may be influenced by superstitions or legends. It is also true that people can be overpowered or tricked into such submissions and setting up rivals with Allah Al-Waahid. These earthly man-made gods cannot rid themselves for a moment of their own selfish desires, or their urge to ensure their own survival and the maintenance of their power and authority. Hence, they seek to destroy all forces and elements that constitute even the slightest threat to their power and authority. They employ all means and mobilize all resources to glorify themselves so that their power continues to be acknowledged by the masses.
Allah Al-Waahid is in no need of anyone.
He (SWT) does not want anything from His servants other than righteousness and that they work for their own betterment, and to build human life in accordance with the code (laws) He has laid down. He then considers
all this as a part of worship.
Prophet Yusuf (PBUH) further said: “Whatever (idols) you worship instead of Him are mere names which you and your forefathers have made up —a practice Allah has never authorized. Legislation belongs to Allah. He has commanded that you worship none but Him. That is the upright faith, but most people do not know."
These man-made gods,
whether they be human or non-human, spirits, devils, angels, or forces of the universe that operate by Allah’s will are not the real god.
The Sovereignty and The Lordship, The Legislation, belongs to Allah Al-Waahid alone. That is the upright faith, but most people do not know!
Pharoah claimed - ‘I know no God whom you may worship other than myself, I am your Lord, the Most High,’
Pharoah actually claimed these rights while disputing Allah's authority, when he started to derive laws from any source other than the Divine law, declaring that the source of power, authority, and sovereignty belongs to him.
We too need to recognize the shirks of our times and we should submit to the One and Only - Allah Al-Waahid and we should try our best to preach about Tawheed (oneness of Allah Al-Waahid) even if we are wronged and unjustly treated by the unjust people around.
Even in prison, Prophet Yusuf (PBUH) was preaching about Allah Al-Waahid, The One and Only, we should also try our best to preach the truth about Allah Al-Waahid irrespective of our circumstances.
(67) Al-Ahad Beautiful Names of our Rabb From 100 Names Of Allah
Al-Ahad
Meaning - The One and Only.
Allah Al Ahad Himself says -
Say: He is Allah (Who is) One.
(Holy Qur'an 112:1)
SubhanAllah! Whenever I hear the beautiful attribute of Al Ahad, what comes to mind immediately is the example of Bilal (r.a) who was a slave of Umayyah bin Khalaf, who became enraged when he discovered that his own slave, whom he considered as weak and submissive to his commands has accepted Islam without his permission. He started torturing Bilal (r.a) because of his belief in Allah Al Ahad, The Oneness, and The Tawheed of Allah (SWT). Every day Umayyah bin Khalaf, used to put Bilal (r.a) in the scorching heat of the sun, on the burning desert soil, depriving him even of a single drop of water. He used to intensify the torture by placing a heavyweight rock on the chest of Bilal (r.a) and he used to publicly carry out the humiliation to instill fear in the hearts of others so that they remain firm in the pagan beliefs of associating partners like Al Laat and Al Uzza with Allah (SWT), but alhamdulillah Bilal (r.a) despite being weak as a slave, became so resolute and firm in his belief on Allah Al Ahad that he said, again and again, the unadulterated truth -
“Ahadun Ahad”, “The One! The One!”
We need to understand here that when Bilal (r.a) was a slave to a man (Umayyah bin Khalaf), he used to be weak to an extent that it enraged Umayyah bin Khalaf that how can such a weak slave-like Bilal accept the Oneness of Allah (SWT) without his permission, but the moment Bilal (r.a) liberated himself from the mental shackles of the slavery of Umayyah bin Khalaf and submitted himself to the servitude as a slave to Allah Al Ahad, he (r.a) not only became determined and firm but also he got truly liberated.
Imagine! The amazingly beautiful ways of being in servitude to Allah Al Ahad only, Abubakr (r.a) paid the money to Umayyah bin Khalaf to set Bilal (r.a) free. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) himself appointed Bilal (r.a) for one of the most honorable works, he (r.a) became the mu’azzin, the caller of the azaan.
Bilal (r.a) proclaimed the Oneness of Allah Al Ahad on the conquest of Makkah (Fatah Makkah) by climbing on the rooftop of Kaaba.
SubhanAllah! This is the beauty of submitting to Allah Al Ahad only, that even a weak slave-like Bilal (r.a) became so determined and firm and was liberated and he (r.a) was blessed to be the mu'azzin, the caller of azaan proclaiming The Oneness of Allah Al Ahad. From an ordinary and oppressed slave, he became the one who climbed the Kaaba and proclaimed The Oneness of Allah Al Ahad! Allah Al Ahad chose him (Bilal r.a) to proclaim His Oneness through azaan not only from the Kaaba, but also from Masjid e Nabawi (in Madina) and even from Masjid al Aqsa (Jerusalem) when it was liberated by the second caliph Umar (r a).
Imagine! Three holy sites in Islam - The Kaaba, Masjid e Nabawi and Masjid al Aqsa and Bilal (r.a) was chosen to proclaim the Oneness of Allah (SWT) from all of them.
Alhamdulillah.
This is an inspiration for all of us.
As humans, we submit or serve someone or the other,
we might submit out of compulsion, it might be an oppressive master like Umayyah bin Khalaf or it can be in form of submission to a person whom one considers as an ideal hero, or it can be our own whims and desires!
We, as believers, should submit and be in servitude to the One and Only - Allah Al Ahad only.
The servitude to Allah Al Ahad alone will liberate us from all the manacles, shackles, and chains of servitude to humans or other ideas or objects. This is the true liberation.
Say, ‘Surely my prayer and my devotion, my life, and my death are all for Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. No partner has He, and this is what I have been commanded...' (Holy Qur'an, 6:162)
May Allah Al Ahad make us among those who submit to Him alone. Ameen.
(68) As-Samad Beautiful Names of our Rabb From 100 Names Of Allah
As-Samad
Meaning - The Eternal Refuge.
“Say, ‘He is Allah—the Uniquely One. Allah, As Samad (The Eternal Refuge). He neither begets nor is begotten. Nor is there to Him any equivalent”
(Holy Qur’an 112:1-4).
Allah is As Samad, The Only Eternal refuge.
We see people around who think and consider others as their allies (awliyaa) and refuge besides Allah As Samad and they think they might provide them refuge and safety and love and tranquillity.
SubhanAllah! Allah As Samad has given a thought-provoking parable about such people who take allies and refuge besides Allah As Samad as the like of the spider's home which is the weakest and frailest of houses.
We know that spiders beautifully architect their web in order to catch their prey and have food and to have shelter.
But we know that despite the threads of the web being beautifully interwoven, they are weak and fragile and this house is deprived of the basic definition of a home which provides proper shelter, care and love. A spider's house is the most fragile of all houses. It is deprived of the notions of love and mercy, the basis for any home. In some species, the female spider kills the male immediately after the fertilization process. In some cases, the female mercilessly eats its offspring.
Spider's home is the weakest and frailest of all homes to such an extent that it is not even considered a home as it fails to provide the basic purpose of a home.
Similarly! Those who take allies and seek refuge other than Allah As Samad may consider their spinning of web threads as strong connections and their threads may appear beautifully interwoven and designed but the home is considered as weakest and frailest as it doesn't fulfill the purpose.
"The example of those who take allies other than Allah is like that of the spider who takes a home. And indeed, the weakest of homes is the home of the spider, if they only knew”
(Holy Qur’an 29:41).
May Allah As Samad make us among those who take shelter and refuge in Him alone and who realize the real lies of the web of the interwoven deceptions. Ameen.
(69) Al-Qaadir Beautiful Names of our Rabb From 100 Names Of Allah
Al-Qaadir
Meaning - The All Able, The All Capable.
Often it happens that we invite people to good but in return, their speech grieves us as they mock and belittle the truth presented to them.
It hurts a lot and we often end up in sleepless nights thinking about those harsh, piercing words uttered by them.
SubhanAllah! When we recite Surah Yasin ayah number 76, we find Allah Al Qaadir comforting His Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) through beautiful words -
"So let not their speech, then, grieve you. Verily! We know what they hide as well as what they disclose."
Allah Al Qaadir is telling Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) further that mankind doesn't critically ponder upon the fact that how he is created through nutfah (sperm) and yet he is an open opponent and questions that will he be resurrected again when he will be reduced to bones and dust?
SubhanAllah! Allah Al Qaadir has created mankind when they were nothing then why resurrecting them sounds impossible for the mankind?
Whenever Allah wills a thing, He just commands it “Be" (Kun) and it is (Faya Kun), He is The All Able, He is Al Qaadir!
Allah Al Qaadir is comforting Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) that mankind is doing its own loss if they are rejecting the message of truth and spreading slanders (slanders like magician, mad man, soothsayer, sorcerer) about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is advised not to grieve upon their words and these comforting words heal our broken hearts too that let not vain, malicious, and slanderous speech grieve us and if people are spreading lies about us then we should glorify Allah Al Qaadir and remember that to Him is the final return.
We should understand that Allah is Al Qaadir and had He wanted, He would have punished the rejectors of the truth on the spot only and He is Able to do so but it is not His way to bring people to account immediately, Allah Al Qaadir has His own ways to test us by good and evil and by giving the oppressors and wrong-doers respite.
Allah Al Qaadir, The All Able can establish justice Himself as it is His own dominion and He doesn't need anyone but this world is designed by Allah Al Qaadir to test us that who is able to strive for His commands to establish and who is not.
May Allah Al Qaadir make us among those whose grieved hearts are healed by the glorification of Allah Al Qaadir and who are considered as the abled ones to establish His commands of justice and peace. Ameen
(70) Al-Muqtadir Beautiful Names of our Rabb From 100 Names Of Allah
Al-Muqtadir
Meaning - The All Determining, The Most Powerful.
Allah Al Muqtadir says in the Holy Quran -
"They rejected all of Our signs, so We seized them with the ˹crushing˺ grip of The Almighty, The Most Powerful."
(Holy Qur'an, 54:42)
This ayah is about the warning given to Pharoah and his people but they rejected it, so Allah Al Muqtadir has seized them.
It was the tenth of Muharram when Prophet Moses (PBUH) was given victory over Pharoah, the tyrant.
As a token of gratitude we all fast on the tenth of Muharram for this victory of Prophet Moses (PBUH) over Pharoah.
But we really need to introspect in our lives that are we really trying to support the likes of Moses (PBUH) who are standing against the Pharaoh's of their times or are we supporting Pharoah of the times just because he has allured us into believing that the likes of Moses (PBUH) are evil by their deceptive tool of propaganda.
We know Pharoah said about Prophet Moses (PBUH) that he was a magician and he wanted to drive them all away (expel) from their lands.
We should glorify Allah Al Muqtadir to protect us from the deceptions of the tyrants who have the mainstream media to build such narratives which can deceive us in believing the truth.
May we become among those who are smart enough to know the tactics used by the Pharaohs of the past and the present.
Allah Al Muqtadir further says that -
"Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and rivers,
at the Seat of Honour in the presence of The Most Powerful Sovereign."
(Holy Qur'an 54:54-55)
May Allah Al Muqtadir make us among those who are considered as honorable ones in His presence. Ameen.
