(76) Al-Baatin Beautiful Names of our Rabb From 100 Names Of Allah
Al-Baatin
Meaning - The Hidden One
Allah Al Baatin has mentioned an incident in the Holy Quran:
"When Musa (peace be upon him) came at the appointed time and his Lord spoke to him, he asked, “My Lord! Reveal Yourself to me so I may see You.” Allah answered, “You cannot see Me! But look at the mountain. If it remains firm in its place, only then will you see Me” When his Lord appeared to the mountain, He levelled it to dust and Moses collapsed unconscious. When he recovered, he cried, “Glory be to You! I turn to You in repentance and I am the first of the believers.”
(Holy Qur'an, 7:143)
Allah is Al Baatin, The Hidden One but alhamdulillah Allah Al Baatin has manifested (made apparent) His signs all around us and even within us so that we should believe in His existence.
We as believers know it well that the greatest blessing and contentment in the hereafter will be looking at our Rabb's Face.
It is noteworthy that when Prophet Musa (PBUH) wanted to see Allah Al Baatin but could not see Him, then in the very next ayah, i.e., ayah 144 of chapter 7, Allah Al Baatin mentioned that -
Allah said, “O Musa! I have (already) chosen you above other people by My messages and speech. So hold firmly to what I have given you and be grateful.”
SubhanAllah! Allah Al Baatin has clearly mentioned that He (subhanahu wa ta'aala) has chosen (ٱصْطَفَيْتُكَ) and thus elevated Prophet Musa (PBUH) through His messages and speech and has asked him to be grateful for such an immense blessing.
It is noteworthy that Allah Al Baatin has mentioned this just after the incident of Prophet Musa's (PBUH) urge to see Allah Al Baatin.
Alhamdulillah! We as an ummah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) should feel highly grateful as we are chosen and thus, elevated with Allah Al Baatin's final, unadulterated speech - The Holy Qur'an.
May Allah Al Baatin allow us to hold firmly to His message and preach His words to His makhlooq (creation) and may we attain the level to see Allah Al Baatin, The Glorious, The Majestic in the hereafter. Ameen.
(77) Al-Waali Beautiful Names of our Rabb From 100 Names Of Allah
Al-Waali
Meaning - The Protector. The Governor of all affairs.
Allah Al Waali has mentioned clearly in the Holy Qur'an-
"Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves. And when Allah intends for a people ill, there is no repelling it. And there is not for them besides Him any protector (وَالٍ)".
(Holy Qur'an 13:11)
Allah is Al Waali (from the same root word which is used above in وَالٍ)
What is interesting is to note that Allah Al Waali, The Protector, The Governor of all affairs is informing us of the condition (شرط) of bringing the change.
But sadly! This ayah has been used widely in misinterpreted contexts. People generally quote it with regards to individual change, they think if we all will change then the bigger change will come it self.
No doubt! We should all strive to change what is in ourselves on individual levels too for the betterment and no one is belittling the importance of tazkiyah nafs (revival of the inner self) but this ayah is with regards to the collective change.
We will realize it when we will analyze a bit of Arabic here.
Please note that the word Qawm (قوم) has been used, which means that the subject matter addressed here is the issue of collective change in the society and not individual change, as the word used is qawm implying collective sense, and not individualistic sense.
It is noteworthy that Allah Al Waali mentioned that He will not change the condition of qawm until (حتیٰ) they change what is in themselves ( بِأَنفُسِهِمْ).
Until (حتیٰ) is a condition here (شرط).
And the word أَنفُسِهِمْ means what is in themselves and it is plural implying to qawm (قوم).
Allah Al Waali has further mentioned the action verb يُغَيِّرُوا۟ (they change), clearly implying that the qawm must do something for the change so that Allah Al Waali will change the condition of the qawm.
Waiting, doing nothing, and thinking that adhering only to the daily rituals of Islam will bring the change is not the right understanding with respect to the above ayah with the basic understanding of the Arabic language.
May Allah Al Waali make us understand that His sunnah (way of doing things) doesn't change and He has informed us the condition to be eligible for the change for betterment, for the revival.
May we realize to bring the change as per Al Waali's shown ways. Ameen.
(78) Al-Muta'aali Beautiful Names of our Rabb From 100 Names Of Allah
Al-Muta'aali
Meaning - The All Exalted.
Allah Al Muta'aali has mentioned in the Holy Qur'an Surah 20, Ayah 114.
فَتَعَـٰلَى ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمَلِكُ ٱلْحَقُّ
"Exalted is Allah, The True King!"
The root words of فَتَعَـٰلَى are same as Muta'aali.
Allah Al Muta'aali has mentioned in the next ayah of the Holy Qur'an (20:115)
"We had already, beforehand, taken the covenant of Adam, but he forgot: and We found on his part no firm resolve."
Allah Al Muta'aali has warned us that it is Satan who seduces man to forget the covenant of worshipping Him, as he has allured our father Adam (peace be upon him) by deceiving him to eat the fruit of the forbidden tree.
SubhanAllah! What is remarkable is that when we read about the description of heaven in the Holy Qur'an, we read about gardens of bliss.
What is noteworthy here is that - amidst the entire gardens of heaven, only a tree was forbidden and Satan successfully allured Adam (PBUH) to that single tree, despite the fact that Adam (PBUH) had the whole access of the heaven's garden but he was tempted by one forbidden tree because he (PBUH) forgot the covenant and Allah Al Muta'aali said He found no firm determination from Adam (PBUH) as he (PBUH) forgot!
We need to understand that our success or failure depends upon our attitude towards this admonition of not forgetting and being firm to our determination whenever we are allured or tempted by Satan to the forbidden tree which he sells us every day in the form of whims and vain desires, in the form of indecency and all sorts of evil wrapped in the glittering deceptions of pleasures and joy.
We should remind ourselves to stay determined and to stay away from the forbidden fruit which he (Satan) had sold before to our parents, Prophet Adam and Eve (a.s.) and now he is selling it to us wrapped under the disguise of "individual freedom of choice and listening to your whims."
Satan succeeded by causing mankind's first parents, Adam and Eve (a.s.) to forget the covenant. Since then mankind has been forgetting it over and over again about its purpose of life and the covenant we made to Allah Al Muta'aali before coming to this world that we will worship Him and it is indeed Allah Al Muta'aali's immense mercy that we are given the Holy Qur'an as the great reminder so that we become firm and resolute.
Allah Al Muta'aali has further mentioned that -
"So taste, on account of how you forgot (نَسِيتُمْ) the meeting of this day of yours; indeed, We have forgotten you, so taste the eternal punishment on account of what you used to do."
(Holy Qur'an 32:14)
Prophet Adam (PBUH) and those among his offspring like the magicians of Pharaoh who realized that they had been seduced by Satan into forgetting their covenant of worshipping Allah Al Muta'aali realized their mistakes and repented sincerely and were forgiven. But there is no forgiveness for those who deliberately rejected Allah Al Muta'aali, as was the case with Satan, Pharaoh (the tyrant), and the Samiri (the one who allured people to worship heifer).
May Allah Al Muta'aali make us among those who realize the significance of being firm by remembering the purpose of life and who realize the huge damage the forgetfulness can cause to us.
Ameen.
